FIGHT TO WIN

I’ve never been the kid in the winning circle and that’s part of the problem now. In spite of that, I’m ready. I’m strong in mind and heart. I’ve got the tools, the talent and I’ve developed a callus for failure that I’ve never had. But not a soul can be swayed to believe otherwise. I’m that underachieving runner-up they’ve come to know and stomach. It’s hard to be a champ when you’ve never been seen in that light before. But, sometimes if you want to win, you’ve got to be something you’re not. Thus emerges my point. Over the coming months loved ones won’t be able to identify who I am and some won’t want to acknowledge or accept the change. But I feel different, so I must be different. Therefore if you can’t know me on sight and can’t stand me imminently, I’m fine with that. I’ve gotta fight to win, no matter what the consequences.
