Artist: Amen Riccs
As far as super heroes go, if pressed, my favorite would have to be Batman. He was a real dude. He had his gadgets and all the bullshit, but he was a man and that, “made him more than just a man.” He took his rage and turned it into a weapon. I dig that. But as far as regular heroes, not of a comic book nature, my friend Amen Riccs couldn’t be anything less than. His music still inspires me and keeps my head clear when it needs it. His feel good hip hop is something that my soul just craves.
I used to refer to him as my version of Superman. I’m not hundred percent that I inspired the lyric, “Well I ain’t got no red “S” marking my chest dude, I’m just a real cat showing you how the west do,” but I’d like to think I had nudged his creativity by referring to him as Kal El son of Jor El. But, that’s gone now. He’s discontinued his music and the possibility of ever being that guy again.
At any rate, I thought of him while on vacation. While my body was relaxing, my mind doesn’t know what vacation is. I had thousands of ideas pop into my mind and because of it, September is going to be an incredible month. I’m working on my short film using talent from RAW Natural Born Artists, my impossible thought of a photo shoot a day (more to come about that), possibly producing several short films and so much more. But I had to elude to my inspiration for the work forth coming. My version of Superman and his kryptonite of a mass abundance of integrity, which how can you blame him for cashing in. I can’t. He’s more than a man. His music and his joy for music is always with me “from the fit to the chucks.” I tip my hat to you sir. So here I go back from vacation with help from my friend, my Bru and my hero. We Back.
